What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach designed to help people heal from trauma and distressing experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (often through guided eye movements or tapping) to help your brain reprocess painful memories—so they no longer feel overwhelming or stuck.

It’s been widely researched and shown to be effective for:

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Childhood trauma

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Negative self-beliefs and inner critics

  • Medical trauma or birth trauma

  • Relationship wounds and attachment issues

  • Perfectionism and high-functioning anxiety

How does EMDR work?

A uniquely designed wall lamp with a woven pattern casting intricate shadows on the wall.

We begin with getting to know you—your story, your strengths, your goals. Your EMDR therapist will work with you to build safety and trust before beginning any reprocessing. EMDR doesn’t require you to retell every detail of a traumatic memory—many clients find that incredibly relieving.

You’ll be supported every step of the way with grounding techniques, nervous system tools, and a pace that honors your capacity.

We believe in healing that moves at the speed of safety.
